Project: HitBox.tv
Project Description: Start from scratch as a HitBox streamer and test the waters for all of you!
Date of Trials: 12/08-1/08
What I will be doing during this trial: I will be keeping progression notes as I go. From now on, as the weeks and trials go by I will be completely keeping track of them here. This will be my journal of HitBox as a new streamer :).
HitBox.tv Project Journal Entries
Week 1: Completely organic trials. Had 2-3 nights of 10-20 viewers. This put me on the popular list and top streamer for World of Warcraft. Still finished only gaining 5 followers from the entire week. Chat was dead.
- Viewer High Score: 20
- Followers: 7
- Chat: 2/10
First LIVE Podcast Episode: Our first ever LIVE Podcast was held Monday at 10 PM on my HitBox Channel. Here are some of the stats Nik, Peaches and myself were able to get from the show.
- Viewer High Score: 25
- Followers from the Podcast: 8
- Chat: 10/10
Week 2: During Week 2 I will be trying to post my stream on Forums and Reddit to see how many viewers I can get AND convert into HitBox followers. I will be tracking my progression below.
Notable Night of the Week: Wednesday:
- Viewer High Score: 10
- Followers: -1 (assuming this was someone from the Podcast not wanting to be updated when I stream)
- Chat: 2/10 – Only populated by 2 current followers. One new viewer asked a question and left once it was answered.
- Top Viewer of WoW High Score: 35
Note from Mike: Podcast went on for another week after this and then came to a halt. We decided it would be better to do live Webinars for Insiders who had specific questions being that the recording of the Live Shows were not proving to be entertaining due to the constant viewer interaction.
Fast Foward: We had a few more weeks of streaming, but the outcome seemed the same. Traffic was not nearly as excistent and possible as Twitch, EVEN without having viewers.
Final Outcome
As stated above, traffic was unfortunately non-existent. When I say that, I don’t mean that I was unable to get viewers, because 20+ viewers for HitBox is acutally really good; what I mean is, they weren’t actually HitBox members. This meant, it was impossible to convert them to followers without first converting them to HitBox followers (members). This proves to be an almost impossible task and I personally suggest just attempting to compete on Twitch.
