Regardless of if you’re looking to post a YouTube channel, stream, website, or anything else in promotion or to advertise yourself. there are certain ways that will get people to click. We always talk about being different and unique and this is no different. If everyone out there is telling people to click their stream to “Come Hangout”, why are those people going to click your’s and not the next person in line?
This is a pure example of leaving your promotion up for chance. How can you fix that problem? First off, you can use trial and error. To often people stick to the same exact thing over and over again. If it’s not working, why are you still using it? Because you think “Marketing is Marketing”? No, if the marketing and advertising you’re using isn’t working you’re actually just wasting valuable time. Take that time to realize there are other things you could be doing, like trying something different.
Look at what other people are saying
There are so many people posting their channels to forums and Reddit so you should have no excuse not to look at what they’re posting. It’s also not hard to see which ones are working by clicking the link quickly to see how many of those channels are actually growing. Now I’m not saying take exactly what they did, but this will just help mold what you want to use.
Headline is EVERYTHING
This should be obvious, but some people forget that in order for people to get to your channel they first have to click the link or thread in which it’s posted behind. In order to get people to click that, your headline has to catch their eye. It’s as simple as that. If you’re putting “Streaming League of Legends – Come Hangout”, I’m just going to say “Yeah, so are like fifteen hundred other gamers, why wouldn’t I hangout with them?”. Make your headline stand out.
Trial and Error Part Two
So I understand I mentioned this already, but some of you might not know exactly how to go about doing this. The best way to REALLY do this would be to actually take notes on the turn around of your posts. If one day you use X headline and you receive 25 page views, track that in a Google Doc or Excel page. The next time you post headline Y, make sure to count to page views and track it in that same doc. After a short amount of time you will be able to clearly see what type of headline and post is working for your channel.
