My last post was created when Twitch.tv was just taking over the streaming network and Own3d.tv was just on it’s way out. For that reason there was a crucial peice of information missing from the amount of money that could be made from streaming. This is SUBSCRIBERS!
Advertising
Just to reiterate a little from the first post we talked about a few different ways for pro streamers to make their money, with the most popular way being directly from Advertising on the stream. What we found out was that streamers make $3 for every 1000 non-subscriber, non-ad blocked ad watched. We also figured out how much TheOddOne was making from this source. If you missed that part, go ahead and head back over to the first post now! It even shows a nice picture of an earning summary that HotShotGG posted while streaming! Don’t worry, we have an updated one from a new streamer that we will be discussing later.
The New Money Stream
That’s a lot of money coming in from advertising for top streamers, but if that’s not reliable they also have a huge income stream coming in from another source. That being, as I said before, subscribers. This is taking streamers to a whole new level. Now they don’t have to simply rely on advertising, while hoping that the majority of the viewers don’t have ad block on. Let’s be honest, a lot of us have ad block, and a lot of us don’t turn it off when watching our favorite streamers. So let’s look at a picture from Optic NadeShot’s payday!
No, the interesting part about this PayPal account isn’t that we learned NadeShot uses Spotify! As you can see he has a significant amount of money coming in from OpTic Gaming and Justin.tv (Twitch). I was going to say that NadeShot is great for sharing this information with us because he probably just motivated all of you, but unfortunately this is coming from his account being hacked so let’s please use this information as just that: motivation. As you can see, for the month of November Justin.tv paid NadeShot over $7,000. It was also reported that Nade did very little streaming, possibly 2-3 days the entire month. Lucky for him, the subscribers still pay to be subbed to his channel, which therefore also gives him a reliable paycheck at the end of the month. Streaming is becoming a real way to get paid, and it is also become extremely reliable if you get yourself partnered with a following.
Easier said than done
It’s always nice seeing pictures like this simply because it shows that it’s possible to do this. It’s possible to make a living being a gamer. You can make a career out of it, make money playing video games, if you truly work hard enough to get yourself there. I hope this helped open all your eyes a bit to how much of a reality gaming for money really is! If NadeShot can do it, you can too right?
