We’ve all done it. We’ve all started something with a boatload of inspiration, feeling motivated and hungry for success. I personally love that feeling. The problem is, it sometimes goes away…and even worse, it can go away pretty quickly if you aren’t getting the results you imagined.
This definitely is a case for streamers. A lot of people start up channels thinking they’re going to be constantly getting viewers and followers right off the bat, and it’ll be amazing and soon they’ll be making the big bucks. Well, after about a week, they start to fizzle out and poof: one less streamer.
Don’t let this be you. I’ve said it before, and the key to streaming success (among other things of course), is consistency and perseverance. No one likes a quitter, so stick with it if it’s what you truly want, as I’m sure it is.
Another important thing to remember is that you constantly need to be entertaining. You’re a streamer, which now makes you an entertainer. It doesn’t matter if you’re just a High Level Gamer, that’s your form of entertainment, which means you should be chatting or commentating in some way when people come into your channel. There’s nothing worse then coming into a channel and just sitting there with silence AND no chatters.
How boring.
Sure, it’s not your fault that you don’t have viewers engaging just yet, and maybe your chat isn’t where you want it to be…BUT it is your fault that you’re not forcing the interaction properly.
Stream Scenario
Let’s take a pretend scenario for example. You’re a pretty new streamer and you’ve had your stream on for about 30 minutes, but haven’t seen anyone enter the chat, OR when maybe one or two people came in, you didn’t realize in time to create conversation. Well guess what, they’re lost opportunities. Those could have been new followers, which would have led to new chatters, and even more new followers.
What could you have changed?
Maybe you could have been entertaining the entire time, instead of strictly waiting for when people are in your channel or when you see people chatting. Maybe in this case talking to yourself isn’t frowned upon!
Is it going to work every time?
Absolutely not. I won’t lie to you, you’re not going to be able to convert every single viewer that comes into your channel regardless of what you do. That being said, it is possible for you to raise your conversation rates by making sure you’re constantly entertaining (even if you don’t think anyone is there).
A Final Tip
There are going to be times when you begin feeling “boring” and are tired of talking to yourself and being entertaining on stream. This final tip is to let you know that it’s okay to sign off. You’re not hurting anyone but yourself by continuing to stream. The only thing you’re doing is wearing yourself down (unless of course you’re pushing through and continuing to entertain). A short stream is nothing bad. A few hours is perfectly fine, and it doesn’t always have to be 8-24 hours to get great follower goals. Sometimes if you’re sitting there half asleep and not talking, your really just killing your own self esteem! Click the stop streaming button, take a break, and get em’ next time champ!
