So how much do Pro Gamers make a year? This was a question that was asked on a previous article called “How much do Pro Gamers make?”. The problem with this is…I can’t give just one simple answer. It’s like asking how much a salesman makes a year. It depends on the salesman. It also depends on the gamer.
Top Gamers Yearly Salary
For this example we’re going to take a look at a top level gamer and see how much they make in one year. This will allow us to take a look into what is really possible in eSports. I guess the better example to use would be a professional sports player. If you were to ask me how much they make a year, my answer would most likely be “a lot”. Well, I could say the same about gamers…depending on the player! Thankfully for us, one player has recently disclosed how much money he is making per year. The amount may shock you!
Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez
For those of you who do not recognize the name, Ocelote is a League of Legends professional player and star. He is 23 years old, was recently interviewed by a Spanish newspaper ABC, and was able to reveal his salary for us. Ocelote plays for team SK Gaming, so yes he receives a salary, but his earnings are definitely not just from that! He revealed that he is making roughly €600,000 to €700,000 per year, which is equivalent to roughly $950,000. Yes, that is nearly 1 million for those of you who didn’t read that right. He told us that his earnings are coming from a combination of salary, tournament winnings, merchandise income, streaming money, and personal sponsors. Whatever he’s doing, I want in!
Are other Gamers making this much?
Sure, this is just one case but you want to know the burning question of “How much do Pro Gamers make a year?” Well, let me clear something up for you. Ocelote may be making nearly a million, but other gamers are making tons of money as well! Did you think I was going to give you bad news? There are a ton of entrepreneur gamers out there that don’t exactly reveal their salaries, like Reginald of TSM and HotShotGG for example. We don’t know an exact number but it is safe to say he isn’t hurting in the money department. That being said, there are some things we do have statistics from. Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel is recorded to be bringing in close to $500,000 in gaming money from tournaments alone. His exact net worth is unknown now, but he was able to start Fatal1ty Gaming gear that already has sold millions of products. It is possible to become a gaming superstar, and you can turn your love for gaming into a career, you just have to work hard to get there!
